
Tech Cross Country Falls To Georgia In Season Opener

The Georgia Tech men's and women's cross country teams fell to Georgia in the season opening Georgia-Georgia Tech Dual meet Thursday evening in Athens, Ga.
Tech freshman Mary Kate DuBard opened her collegiate campaign by finishing third in the women's individual 3200-meter run with a time of 11 minutes and 17 second, just six seconds off the winning pace of Georgia All-American Natalia Picchetti.
The Jacket women scored 44 points, 25 behind Georgia's 19. Also pacing the Tech runners were freshmen Annie Martin (11:30) and Betsy Kim (11:39), finishing sixth and eighth, respectively.
Rounding out the top-five for the Tech women was sophomore Sarah Anderson with a time of 11:57 and junior Lindsey Pickens finishing the course with a mark of 12:01.
The Tech men totaled 35 points, falling to Georgia's 24. They were led by junior Garad Soderman (19:31), who finished third in the 6200-meter run, while senior E.C. Gibbs (19:33) came in fifth and senior Nazar Trilisky (19:40) crossed the line for seventh soon after. Junior Matt Hickey (20:07) and senior Casey Gramling (20:10) rounded out the top-five for the men's scoring in Thursday's meet.
