The Georgia Tech (19-7) volleyball will face Louisville (25-6) on Friday in Louisville, Ky., in the first round of the 2001 NCAA Tournament. The Jackets and Cardinals both received at-large bids and will be playing Friday night at 8 p.m. in the Kentucky International Convention Center.

"We are really looking forward to playing in the NCAA Tournament this weekend," said head coach Shelton Collier. "We had some notable sucessess this season, but because we came up short at the ACC Tournament, I believe we will be even more determined to make a statement for ourselves in the NCAA Tournament,"

The Jackets, which finished second in the Atlantic Coast Conference regular season, are making their fifth overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament, and their second consecutive showing after a first-round loss to Colorado in 2000. Tech holds an all-time record of 3-4 in the tournament.

The match marks the first meeting between Tech and Louisville, which finished as the runner-up in the Conference USA tournament.

"Louisville should be a team very comparable to us in terms of ability and talent," said Collier. "They will have the home crowd advantage, but I feel good about our chances."

The winner of Friday's contest is scheduled to play on Saturday at 7:30 facing the winner of the Pacific-Alabama A& M match.
