Tech's Bodipo-Memba Promoted to Associate Head Coach for Volleyball

Aug. 11, 2007

ATLANTA - Ben Bodipo-Memba, an assistant under Georgia Tech head coach Bond Shymansky for the last five years, has been promoted to associate head coach, Shymansky announced this week.

"Ben has had such a great impact on our program," Shymansky said. "He is enigmatic in every facet of the job. He is a personable recruiter, motivating trainer and outstanding friend. I know that he is capable of being a head coach of his own program, but loyalty is a rare thing, and he has an abundance of it. We will continue to be successful as long as Ben is a Yellow Jacket."

Bodipo-Memba has been instrumental in the success of the Yellow Jacket program since his arrival in 2002, guiding an offense that has finished first in the nation in kills and assists per game in two of his five years on the Flats. The Georgia Tech offense has also concluded two seasons ranked in the top 10 in hitting percentage.

Under his tutelage, four Yellow Jackets - middle hitters Jayme Gergen and Alexandra Preiss and setters Kele Eveland and Lindsey Laband - have earned All-America honors while the team has advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 on two occasions.
