Talisa Kellogg recorded 17 kills in a losing effort as the Georgia Tech volleyball team fell on the road to Duke in three games (22-30, 27-30, 27-30) Friday night. With the defeat, the Yellow Jackets fall to 13-8, 9-3 ACC while the Blue Devils improve to 15-6, 9-4 ACC.

The Jackets were outhit in the game, .288 to .113 as Tech's offense struggled throughout the night. The only other Yellow Jacket to finish with double-figure kills was Laura DeMichelis, who ended the match with 11 kills and hit .231. Jennifer Randall posted a match-high 18 digs in the losing effort for Tech.

The Blue Devils were led by Carrie DeMange, who had 12 kills and hit .346 while Sam Fisher, Sarah Salem and Tealle Hunkus each recorded 11 kills in the match.

The Yellow Jackets continue their road trip, facing Wake Forest (12-9, 5-7 ACC) in Winston-Salem at 6 p.m. Saturday in Reynolds Gym.

The Jackets stayed close in the first game and held an early 12-10 lead until the Blue Devils tied the game at 12-12 after an attack error from Kellogg and a kill from DeMange. Duke then built a 16-12 lead following four straight Yellow Jacket hitting errors and went on to win the first game 30-22 after an attack error from Kellogg and a kill from Sarah Salem sealed the final point.

Tech led throughout the second game, and was up by as many as six at 19-13 until Duke mounted its charged and chipped away at the lead. The Jackets still led at 21-18 after an attack error by Hunkus, but then the Blue Devils tied the score at 21-21 after a kill from Fisher and two straight hitting errors by Stegemann. Once the game was tied, the teams went back and forth until the game was still tied at 27-27. At that point, the Blue Devils got a kill from DeMange and then scored on a hitting error from Kellogg to take a 29-27 lead. The final point of the game was recorded on a kill from Hunkus giving Duke the game, 30-27.

In game three, the Jackets led the entire way, and were up by as many as five at 22-17 scoring on several Blue Devil hitting errors and kills by DeMichelis, Kellogg and Stegemann. After an attack error by Stegemann made the score 23-20, Duke then scored on two kills from Salem to narrow the gap to 23-22. The Blue Devils then tied the score at 24-24 after DeMichelis hit into the block of Ali Hausfeld and DeMange but the Jackets led at 26-24 after a kill by Stegemann followed by a service ace from Stegemann. After a Duke timeout, DeMichelis posted a hitting error followed by a kill from Fisher and DeMange to give the Blue Devils the lead at 27-26. Tech then tied the score at 27-27, but it would be the last point the Jackets would score as Duke recorded the next three points on kills from Salem and two from Fisher to win the game, 30-27.
