WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jessica Furlong had 14 kills to lead Wake Forest (5-5, 1-0 ACC) to a 3-0 (30-22, 30-26, 30-22) victory over Georgia Tech (8-3, 0-1 ACC) Friday night at Reynolds Coliseum on the campus of Wake Forest University.

The Yellow Jackets were led by sophomore outside hitter Talisa Kellogg, who paced Tech with 12 kills while hitting a team-best .407 on the night. Sophomore setter Allie Niekamp ran the offense by recording her third double-double of the season with 12 digs and 34 assists, while senior libero Abby Showers led the Jackets defensively with 13 digs.

The Jackets were held to a season-low .153 hitting percentage while Wake Forest hit .279 on the night, including .361 in the final game of the match.

Tech could never get its offense going, scoring just four points off their own serves while committing five service errors in the first game. The Yellow Jackets began to rebound in game two, taking an 11-7 lead early in the frame, but the Demon Deacons scored five-straight points, four of which came off Yellow Jacket attack errors, to give Wake the lead for good.

The Deacs took a 2-0 lead to begin game three, and after the two teams shared the next nine points, Wake Forest went on a 8-1 run to extend the lead to 14-6, and didn't relinquish the edge for the remainder of the match. Tech would score five straight points of its own, pulling to within 15-12 on a kill by Ulrike Stegemann, but the home team then scored the next four points to put the match out of reach.

Wake's 3-0 victory hands Tech its first three-game loss of the season and first in 18 matches, dating back to Nov. 5 of last season.
