ATLANTA - With less than a month left until the beginning of softball season, construction continues on the new Georgia Tech Softball Stadium at the corner of eighth and Fowler Streets.

To view the progression of the construction since last April, click here.

You can see from the most recent photos that the majority of the inside of the stadium is complete. The grass has come in and is a perfect green color with the recent rain and warm weather. The dirt is down for the indoor batting cages off the left-field line as that part of the facility nears completion as well.

Padding is being added to the outfield wall and the perimeter fence beyond the outfield fence continues to come along. This week, officials tested both the lights and sound system and the team will begin practicing on the field within the next two weeks. In the dugouts, work continues on sanding the benches as well as putting up the protective rails and padding.

Work continues outside the facility on the ticket booths, sidewalk and entrances as well as landscaping. A stone wall that will wrap around the facility on the street is also being constructed as are the stairwells for the 8th street and Fowler street entrances.

The Yellow Jackets' 2009 season-opener is set for Feb. 7 with a doubleheader at Georgia State (1:00 p.m.). The first game in the new stadium will be March 10 against Tennessee-Martin.
