KENNESAW, Ga. - Juniors Brittany Barnes and Savannah Brown each hit three-run home runs and junior Whitney Humphreys (3-0) threw seven strong innings, striking out five, to lead Georgia Tech (6-1) past Kennesaw State (7-3), 8-2, on Sunday night in the KSU Invitational at Bailey Park.

The Yellow Jackets finished the tournament with a perfect 4-0 record to win the championship. Tech homered for the 10th consecutive game, dating back to last year, and has done so in each of its seven games this year.

Senior Caitlin Lever finished the game 2-for-3, with two runs scored, while sophomore Jennifer Yee hit her first home run of the season, going 1-for-4, with two runs batted in.

The Jackets took the first lead of the game in the top of the third inning courtesy of a three-run blast by Barnes and a two-run shot by Yee to lead 5-0.

The Owls responded with two runs in the bottom half of the third on a two-run homer by Jennifer Nolan to bring KSU within three, 5-2.

The Jackets used the long ball again in the top of the fifth inning as Brown connected on a three-run shot to left-center field to push the lead to six runs, 8-2.

Tech scored eight runs, on eight hits and no errors, while the Owls scored two runs, on five hits and had no errors.

The Yellow Jackets will host Gardner-Webb University on Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
