1999-2000: Developing post player who saw action in 28 of 31 games • Scored nine points and had five rebounds in 14 minutes of action in her collegiate debut, a 71-51 Tech win at Georgia State on Nov. 23 • Scored a season-high 13 points and had eight boards in Tech’s 85-53 win against Elon in the first round of the Georgia Tech/Atlanta Marriott Northwest Basketball Classic on Nov. 26 • Had six points and eight rebounds in the championship game against Hofstra, helping Tech to the tournament title • Scored seven points and a season-high 12 rebounds against Charleston Southern on Dec. 7 • Had four points and four rebounds in the regular-season finale against Maryland.
Prep: Signed with Tech on Nov. 11, 1998 • Helped guide Brooklyn Technical to an 18-7 overall mark and a berth in the PSAL Girls’ A Playoffs • Led her team to the playoff quarterfinals • Had 19 points, 15 rebounds and four blocked shots to pace Brooklyn Tech to a 66-41 win over M.L. King in a first-round playoff win • Had nine points, eight boards and six blocks in a 52-47 second-round win over Francis Lewis.
Personal: Sonja Mallory was born Sept. 2, 1981 • Is the daughter of Eugene and Josephine Mallory • Majoring in chemical engineering • Received the Five Star Scholarship for 2001-02 • Her sister, Jeanette, graduated from Georgia Tech in the spring of 1998 and is currently attending Georgia Tech Lorraine in Metz, France.
