Hadley 21st at Western Refining All-American Event
Nov. 24, 2008
El Paso, Texas -
Georgia Tech's Chesson Hadley fired rounds of 73 and 74 Monday and is tied for 21st place after 36 holes of the Western Refining College All-American Golf Classic.
The 54-hole event each November brings together 27 of the nation's top golfers who earned All-America honors the previous spring. Hadley, a junior from Raleigh, N.C., was a second-team honoree by the Golf Coaches Association of America.
Hadley birdied Nos. 9 and 18 Monday for his 73 in the morning. A double bogey at the 16th hole kept him from improving on that score in the afternoon. He is nine strokes off the lead held by Charlotte's Corey Nagy, who posted rounds of 67 and 71 for a 4-under-par total of 138 at the El Paso Country Club.
In other Tech golf news Monday, senior Cameron Tringale has made Golf World magazine's Mid-Season All-America team. A three-time All-American already, Tringale enjoyed the best fall of his Tech career, posting three top-10 finishes and a top-20 in four events, including a victory at the Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga. Tringale finished the fall with a 71.50 stroke average in 12 rounds.
The men's team is comprised of Jorge Campillo (Indiana, Sr.), Zahkai Brown (Colorado State, Fr.), Bronson Burgoon (Texas A&M, Sr.), Kevin Foley (Penn State, Jr.), Dustin Garza (Wichita State, Jr.), Matt Hill (NC State, Soph.), Scott Langley (Illinois, Soph.), Eddie Olson (UNLV, Jr.), Kyle Stanley (Clemson, Jr.), Derek Tolan (Colorado, Sr.), Cameron Tringale (Georgia Tech, Sr.) and Mike Van Sickle (Marquette, Sr.).
