Tech Signs No. 2-Ranked Golfer in North Carolina

Nov. 12, 2008

ATLANTA - Georgia Tech has signed the No. 2 junior golfer in the state of North Carolina, Bo Andrews of Raleigh, N.C., to a letter-of-intent, head coach Bruce Heppler announced Wednesday.

Andrews, who attends Ravenscroft High School in Raleigh, is No. 56 among 2009 seniors and 86th among all junior golfers.

An honorable mention All-American by the American Junior Golf Association in 2007, Andrews has led Ravenscroft to North Carolina state and conference championships three times. He has won three AJGA golf titles, the 2008 AJGA Junior Championship, the 2007 AJGA Golf Pride Classic and the 2007 AJGA Burgett H. Mooney, Jr. Classic, and recorded seven other top-20 finishes in the last two years.

"As a three-time AJGA winner, Bo has succeeded on the national scene for the past two summers," said Heppler. "The exciting thing about Bo is that when he gets near the lead and has a chance to win, he can close the deal. His father Andy was a great tennis player in the ACC, and he has given Bo the vision of team first and what kind of work is needed to succeed in college athletics."
