Golfers Finish Fourth at Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate

Franklin, Tenn. - John-Tyler Griffin, who paced Georgia Tech with a 3-under-par 68 Sunday, and Kyle Scott each posted top-10 finishes, and 8th-ranked Georgia Tech shot even-par 284 Sunday to finish fourth at the Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate golf tournament.Tech began the day in third at 9-under-par and finished at 9-under 559, three shots off the lead shared by Middle Tennessee State and South Carolina (12-under 556). The Blue Raiders vaulted from eighth place with an 11-under-par score of 273 Sunday. First-round leader Arkansas State finished third at 11-under 557. No other team shot better than 282 Sunday. The Yellow Jackets played the front nine in 6-over-par, but rallied to play the back in 6-under. Griffin, a junior from Wilson, N.C., earned his third career top-10 finish by playing the final eight holes in 4-under-par. Scott, a junior from Johannesburg, South Africa, played the final eight holes in 3-under-par, and the transfer from West Florida posted his first top-10 finish in a Division I event. Griffin tied for fourth place, six shots off the pace of Jonathan Randolph of Mississippi, who shot 64-67 to finish 36 holes at 11-under-par 131. Griffin shot a 36-hole score of 5-under 137, while Scott tied for 10th place at 3-under 139. Hadley, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., shot 72 Sunday and tied for 21st place (even-par 142) in is first event of the fall. Junior Paul Haley (Dallas, Texas) also carded a 72 Sunday for Tech's fourth counting score, and tied for 40th place at 3-over 145. Sophomore James White (Acworth, Ga.) shot 74 Sunday and tied for 30th place. Tech's next event is the third annual Brickyard Collegiate in Macon, Ga., on Oct. 11-13.
