Tech's Johnson To Play In Chick-fil-A Bowl Alma Mater at Reynolds Plantation

GREENSBORO, GA -- Georgia Tech head football coach Paul Johnson will team with former Yellow Jacket basketball standout Jon Barry April 29th in the Chick-fil-A Bowl Alma Mater at Reynolds Plantation -- a one-day celebrity golf event with a scholarship purse of $375,000.

The Chick-fil-A bowl announced today that Johnson and Barry, and UCLA football coach Rick Neuheisel and professional volleyball legend Sinjin Smith, a Bruin alum, have joined the field. A growing list of schools will be represented in the event.

The unparalleled field will also include defending champions Frank Beamer and Dell Curry of Virginia Tech and other top NCAA head coaches and celebrities. In all, 14 teams are scheduled to hit the links - all vying for the $100,000 first-place prize.

Current players and teams include:

Boston College -- Jeff Jagodinski and Chris O'Donnell
Connecticut -- Jim Calhoun and Donny Marshall
Georgia Tech -- Paul Johnson and Jon Barry
Maryland -- Ralph Friedgen and Neil O'Donnell
South Carolina -- Steve Spurrier and Sterling Sharpe
UCLA -- Rick Neuheisel and Sinjin Smith
Virginia Tech -- Frank Beamer and Dell Curry
Wake Forest -- Jim Grobe and Billy Packer

More teams will be announced in the weeks leading up to the event.

The celebrity round will be taped for broadcast and aired nationally by CBS from 2 - 4 p.m. (ET) on Christmas Day. The made-for-TV portion is being produced by Savlov Consulting, Inc.

In addition to the $375,000 scholarship purse, another $50,000 of the proceeds will be donated to the Reynolds Foundation.
