Bell honored for third straight year

Georgia Tech standouts Travis Bell, Kevin Tuminello and Darryl Richard have been named to the 2006 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic football team.

Bell is a three-year member of the All-Academic team, Tuminello earns the honor for the second straight year and Richard is a first-time honoree.

To be eligible for consideration, a player must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during his academic career.

A three-year starter at placekicker, Bell has a career field goal percentage of .679 (38-56), raking third in Tech history in career points by kicking and fourth in overall scoring with 215 points. The Roswell, Ga., native was Tech's second-leading scorer last fall with 79 points as he hit 12-of-18 field goals and 43-of-43 extra points. He maintains a 3.31 grade point average in Management.

Tuminello, from Youngstown, Ohio, is a two-year starter at center. Last fall he helped Tech rank second in the ACC in rushing and blocked for conference rushing leader Tashard Choice. The Building Construction major maintains a 3.5 GPA, including a perfect 4.0 last fall.

Richard, a returning starter at defensive tackle for the Tech defense, posts a 3.56 cumulative GPA in Management. He is scheduled to earn his degree this spring in just three years and hopes to enroll in graduate school while playing his final two seasons of football.
