  • The combined rushing yards (357) for Dwyer (144) and Jones (213) was the second most in Tech history by two players in the same game. Only Eddie Lee Ivery, who rushed for a Tech record 356 yards vs. Air Force in 1978, and Ray Friday, with 115 yards, combined for more.

    Notes

  • Drought breakers - each of the last three times Georgia has won six or more straight games in the series, Tech has broken the streak with a win in Athens (35-18 in 1984, 21-19 in 1998 and 45-42 this year).
  • Yellow Jacket junior linebacker Shane Bowen, who was expected to make his first start of the season today; was ruled out when it was found that he has a displaced cervical vertebrae. The injury was discovered on a routine check-up of his shoulder, which was operated on prior to spring practice.
  • Georgia Tech played its fourth consecutive nationally-ranked opponent for just the second time in school history (also 1959)
  • Since electing permanent captains (Richard, Johnson and Gardner, with the injured Gardner later replaced by Vance Walker), Georgia Tech has won six consecutive coin tosses
  • After not allowing a first quarter touchdown in games 1-7, Georgia Tech has allowed a first-quarter TD three times in the last four games; Georgia took the least amount of time (3:20) to score a TD against the Jackets this season
  • Georgia Tech failed on a PAT for the third time this season
  • Tech allowed 14 first-half points for just the third time this season; Georgia's 21 points tied for the most by a Tech opponent in any half this season (UNC had 21 points in the second half)
  • Georgia Tech failed on a two-point conversion for the first time this season (1-for-2 on the year)
  • Prior to today, Tech had not allowed a pass completion longer than 39 yards
  • Georgia's 28 first-half points were the most in one half by a Yellow Jacket opponent since Georgia scored 34 in the first half on Nov. 30, 2002
  • Prior to today, Tech had not allowed more than 299 yards passing in one game - Georgia had 271 passing yards in the first half alone
  • Georgia's fourth touchdown of the first half resulted from a scoring drive of less than one minute (38 seconds) - just the second time this season a Tech opponent has produced a scoring drive of less than 60 seconds
  • Roddy Jones' third-quarter touchdown run marked Georgia Tech's eighth scoring drive this season of longer than five minutes
  • When Tech attempted its third two-point conversion of the day, it marked the first time since Nov. 10, 2001 (vs. Virginia) that the Yellow Jackets attempted three in one game
  • Tech scored 35-plus points against Georgia for the first time since scoring 51 against the Bulldogs, in the overtime game of 1999
  • The 35 points surrendered by Georgia Tech were the most allowed in a victory by the Yellow Jackets since the same game.
  • Tech rushed for more than 400 yards in the second straight game (had 472 vs. Miami, 413 today)
  • Tech's five rushing TD today gave the Jackets 32 for the season, tying the school record set by the 1952 team and tied by the 1975 team.

    Roddy Jones, Fr., A-Back

  • became the third Tech back to rush for 200 yards against Georgia - Jerry Mays had 207 in 1989 in Atlanta, Robert Lavette 203 in 1982 in Athens
  • his 16.4 yards-per-carry average today was a school record for a single game, beating the 13.7 average achieved by Eddie
  • Lee Ivery in his 356-yard game at Air Force in 1978 (26 attempts). Jones ran the ball 13 times. rushed for a touchdown for the third time this season (his fourth touchdown overall)

    Jonathan Dwyer, So., B-Back

  • went over 100 yards rushing, tying the school record with his ninth 100-yard rushing game of the season
  • rushed for 100 yards for the fourth consecutive game
  • rushed for 100 yards for the 10th time in his career, tying C.J. Williams for the seventh-most career 100-yard rushing games in Tech history
  • his 25th rushing yard today - his 1,209th of the season - passed Robert Lavette for the sixth-most single-season rushing yards in Georgia Tech history

    Demaryius Thomas, So., WR

  • has caught at least one pass in every game he has played in this season (he did not play at Virginia Tech because of a concussion)

    Austin Barrick, OT

  • had his first career rushing attempt

    Lucas Cox, So., RB

  • recorded his third rushing touchdown of the season - his third rushing TD over the last four games

    Vance Walker, Sr., DT
