2000: Started the first seven games at strong safety before moving to cornerback for the final five contests . . . Tech’s fourth-leading tackler with 62 hits . . . Played cornerback for the first time in Tech’s win at fourth-ranked Clemson and had five tackles, a forced fumble and an interception on the game’s final play . . . Moved to cornerback to battle Clemson standout Rod Gardner, who had just three catches for 27 yards . . . Made one of the most memorable plays of the season with his fumble recovery at the one-yard line at the end of regulation in Tech’s 51-48 overtime win over arch-rival Georgia . . . Also made a game-saving play in the Jackets’ 45-42 win over Clemson with his pass breakup in the end zone on the Tigers’ final play on fourth-and-seven from the Tech 43-yard line . . . Career-high 15 tackles against North Carolina . . . Added 12 tackles against Wake Forest and 10 versus NC State . . . Had eight tackles, one tackle for loss, one inerception and pass deflection against Maryland . . . Missed most of the Virginia game with a concussion . . . Named Tech’s Most Improved Defensive Player for 1999.
1998: Lettered as a true freshman as the backup at strong safety . . . Also played on special teams . . . Started the New Mexico State game in place of injured Jerry Caldwell and made a season-high five tackles . . . Added three hits against Duke and two versus Wake Forest . . . Totalled 10 tackles on the season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Rated one of the Top 20 wide receivers in the Southeast by Prep Star . . . Named a “Best of the Rest” by Deep South Football . . . As a senior had 102 tackles, 45 assists, one interception and four caused fumbles, one of which he returned for a touchdown . . . Also rushed for 252 yards on 36 carries for three touchdowns and caught 10 passes for 180 yards and three more scores . . . Earned team MVP honors for coach Danny Cronic at East Coweta High, the same program as former Tech standout Keith Brooking . . . Lettered three times in football and once in basketball . . .
