Teamed with Dez White to give the Yellow Jackets the most productive receiving tandem in school history, combining for 113 catches, 1,965 yards (17.4 average) and 15 touchdowns . . . Broke the Tech season records for receptions with 69 (old record: 64 by Harvey Middleton in 1996), receiving yards with 1,105 (old record: 973 by Dez White in 1998) and touchdown receptions with 10 (old record: 9 by Dez White, 1998, and Jimmy Robinson, 1972) . . . Yardage total was the seventh best season in ACC history, while 69 catches ranked 10th in league annals . . . Ranked second in the ACC and 13th nationally with 100.5 receiving yards per game . . . Third in the league and 19th in the nation with 6.3 catches per game . . . Sixth in the ACC in all-purpose yards per game (116.2) . . . Rushed four times for 41 yards, including a spectacular 17-yard touchdown run against NC State . . . Returned five kickoffs--all against Georgia--for a 26.4-yard average.
In back-to-back wins over North Carolina and Duke, he totalled 18 receptions for 393 yards, a school-record for two games, while making the key catches on game-winning drives in both contests . . . In 38-31 win over Duke, he had a career-high 11 receptions for 190 yards and set up the game-winning touchdown with a 36-yard reception to the Duke 34 . . . One game earlier against North Carolina, he caught seven passes for 203 yards and two touchdowns in the Jackets' 31-24 overtime victory . . . Caught touchdown passes of 47 and 59 yards, and then on Tech's final drive for the game-tying field goal, he had two receptions for 67 yards . . . After the Jackets took over at their own two-yard line with 1:10 left, he caught a short pass over the middle and raced to the Tech 34; two plays later, he caught a 35-yard pass down the right sideline to the UNC 25-yard line . . . His 203 yards receiving against UNC equalled the fourth-best single-game total in school history, while his 11 catches against Duke was also the fourth-best single-game figure in Tech annals . . . Also enjoyed a big day against top-ranked Florida State with seven catches for 141 yards with touchdown catches of 56 and 22 yards . . . His 22-yard touchdown was a spectacular, one-handed catch in the end zone that brought the Jackets within six points with 1:35 to play . . . Caught eight passes for 135 yards and two touchdowns against Clemson . . . Scored three times against NC State with catches of 11 and 39 yards and a 17-yard run . . . Played four games (UCF, Maryland, North Carolina and Duke) with his jaw wired shut after suffering a broken jaw against Florida State.
1998: Fifth on the team in receptions with 11 for 131 yards (11.9 average) . . . Also gained 12 yards on a reverse against Virginia. . . Caught a 55-yard touchdown pass from Joe Hamilton for Tech's first touchdown in its win over 12th-ranked Georgia . . . Saw his first action against New Mexico State and caught a 14-yard pass . . . Season-high three receptions for 24 yards against Florida State . . . Had two catches for 13 yards against NC State.
HIGH SCHOOL: Standout in football and track at Atlanta's Mays High School . . . Played tailback as a senior and rushed for 615 yards on just 35 carries while catching three passes for 85 yards . . . Also returned seven kickoffs for 239 yards and scored 15 touchdowns and 22 two-point conversions . . . Named a City All-Star by the 100 Percent Wrong Club . . . 1998 Georgia AAAA state champion in the triple jump (46-7 1/4 feet) and the 4x400-meter relay while finishing second in the 200 and 400 meters . . .
