Tech Baseball Participates in CHOA Halloween

Nov. 4, 2008

ATLANTA - The Georgia Tech baseball team spent Halloween afternoon volunteering for the annual Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Halloween Party, held every year on the main floor at Egleston Children's Hospital at Emory.

The team spent the afternoon with over 40 hospital patients, their parents and nurses, assisting in a variety of activities from board games to painting, coloring, playing basketball, making key chains and trick-or-treating around the main floor.

"We had a great time out here today," said Yellow Jacket senior Luke Murton. "We got a chance to hang out with some kids, and any time that you can do community service with kids it's a great thing. I think that by interacting with them, you can have a great impact on them while they impact you as well."

All of the attending patients arrived in costume shortly after 2 p.m. and spent much of the afternoon mingling with members of this year's baseball team and golfer Cameron Tringale while participating in the various activities. Around 4 p.m., several of the patients began trick-or-treating around the main lobby of the hospital, where more baseball players handed out prizes and toys.
