1B Chase Burnette went 1-for-6 with a strikeout.
RHP Brandon Cumpton struck out four of the six batters he faced in two perfect innings of relief.
DH Derek Dietrich (.275) was 0-for-2 with a sacrifice fly as Team USA defeated the host Czech Republic 8-2 in pool-play action of the 2008 FISU World Championships.
C Cole Leonida (.211) went 2-for-5 with three strikeouts.
3B Patrick Long was 1-for-3 with three walks, a stolen base and a strikeout.
RHP Deck McGuire was credited with the win after facing five batters in relief as Peninsula beat Fayetteville 10-4. His line: (W,6-0) 1 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 SO.
1B Tony Plagman (.304) went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a walk and three RBI.
CF/LF Jeff Rowland was 3-for-7 with a walk, an RBI, two stolen bases and a strikeout.
